For new transfer students, graduate and professional students, and returning undergraduates

The VCU sign is reflected in a student's sunglassesYou are responsible for making any and all changes to your class schedule, but your advisor or program director is here to answer any questions you may have. They do not have the ability to make changes to your schedule to accommodate preferred course modalities or times, but they can answer questions about alternative courses to consider and co-curricular activities to enhance your studies.

Steps to take

  • Start by reading the general fall 2020 schedule information on this website.
  • Check your VCU email for information from your school or department about changes for fall.
  • Log into eServices to determine what changes, if any, you would like to make to your schedule.
  • Review the schedule of classes in Banner 9 Registration to see if an alternate section is being offered with your preferred delivery method or time. For help finding what modality a course is being taught in, check out our tutorial video.
    • If that section is open, consider registering for it. If it is closed, you can add yourself to the waitlist (if activated), or monitor eServices for spaces to become available.
  • Investigate if you can adjust what classes you are registered for.
    • Use the Plans of Study and Degree Works to see what alternative courses you could take in your preferred delivery method and time preferences. Depending upon your program of study, prerequisites, and course availability, you may be able to change the classes you take in the fall, while still making progress towards graduation. For example, you may be able to register for a different elective course in your preferred modality. Be aware of prerequisites! Please contact your undergraduate advisor if you are unsure of what courses to take.
  • Many courses may ONLY be taught inonline formats, and you may not be able to construct a schedule entirely in your preferred delivery method.
  • Stumped? Ask for help! Undergraduate advisors have increased their availability in Navigate to help answer questions you may have. Graduate and professional students should reach out to their program directors with questions.
